Accountant

The accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting duties. As part of the head office accounting team, this role reports directly to the Financial Controller and works closely with restaurant operations. The office is located downtown Toronto.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Timely preparation of financial statements and management reports
  • HST, payroll and corporate tax filings and payments
  • Ensure accurate and timely period, quarterly and year end close
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Maintaining day to day cash flow management practices
  • Assistance with payroll functions
  • Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
  • Explain financial information to operations and provide feedback and support to ad hoc requests
  • Ensure accurate preparation of bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Financial review preparation and assistance with the year-end review process
  • Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Experience and Qualifications Required:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in General Accounting combined with a sound knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting in an integrated system
  • Detailed accounting and expense reporting
  • Excellent knowledge of General Ledger, AP & AR processes and procedures
  • Able to ensure the integrity, accuracy and timelines of data preparation & entry
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel and any accounting software)
    Knowledge of performance measurement frameworks and reporting
  • Confident and dedicated team player with superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and results oriented
  • Self starter with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    Ability to set priorities and execute tasks with minimum supervision
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
