Assistant General Manager (Buca Toronto)

We are hiring for our upcoming Buca property located at Yonge and St.Clair!

The Assistant General Manager is accountable to assist with the day-to-day operations of the restaurant including staff training, cost controls, budgeting, administration and active floor management during service.

There is a specified responsibility tied to this position that includes overseeing the training of FOH employees and managing career paths and expectations.  This will include conducting 1:1s with all FOH service staff.


  • Communicate the restaurant vision to all team members and lead by example; Inspire the team with focused vision and direction
  • Oversees points of service throughout lunch / dinner service
  • Build and maintain relationships with guests, team members and senior management
  • Follow bar, beverage and wine control procedures exactly
  • Provide general administrative support for the restaurant – may include payroll, new hire info and other as directed
  • Show leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and wine
  • Demonstrate high personal integrity, business ethics and takes every opportunity to promote furthering education and refinement
  • Conduct recruitment and selection and training and development initiatives, as well as performance management and employee coaching – Partner with Human Resources
  • Use conflict resolution and problem solving skills –partner with Human Resources
  • Assist with the tracking of sales, invoicing, and managing inventory
  • Conduct line ups with team prior to each service
  • Accurately schedule FOH staff according to projected sales, volume
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll records
  • Strive for maximum efficiency and continual improvement of staff productivity
  • Participate on the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring that the Occupational Health & Safety Act and WSIB procedures are being followed
  • Ensure facility is well maintained, repaired and spotless at all times
  • Work with Senior Management to design and implement strategies to increase sales, and productivity and decrease loss and waste.
  • Build relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for....

  • Previous progressive management experience within comparable restaurant concepts
  • Experience in premiere dining environments (Knowledge and interest in Italian Culture)
  • Self starter, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task, and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast paced environment
  • Refined business acumen
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent an asset
